Following yet another awful international tournament on England’s part many people across the land were left scratching their heads, searching for an intuitive way of improving the national team without impacting domestic club football in any way, shape, nor form. I, however, had a vastly different vision – and I doubt very highly that the Premier League will like it…
Instead of implementing a mid-season break, introducing a new rule stating that there must be at least X number of Englishman in every side’s starting XI or investing more money into youth training: I have gone down an entirely different path. Every club that plies its trade under the jurisdiction of the English FA (inclusive of the likes of Newport County and Swansea City) will be banned from making transfers for ten years, but as a result have been given the money to fully upgrade their facilities: therefore meaning that clubs are now reliant upon polishing their own talents, rather than spending big once they come to fruition from lands further afield.
If you are looking for a new challenge where you have to develop your own players, putting youth development first and glory on a continental stage second: this is most probably the save for you!
